It Doesn't Hurt

I guess maybe I was a bit too confident.
I thought that, maybe if I had the courage to tell you how I felt,
you would accept me.
I hoped that if I tried to win your heart slowly by the smallest kind deeds,
you would acknowledge and return my feelings.
But…I guess I was wrong.

When I confessed my feelings to you,
you told me you were already seeing someone else.
Even though you said it in the nicest way you could,
I was still shocked.

But it doesn't hurt.
I may have been turned down, but it does not hurt at all.
It really is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all, right?
However, my feelings for you will stay the same.
I will still love you in spite of all this.
And I will not give up.
If anything, I believe this experience has made me stronger.
I know that one day, you will realize my sentiments,
and I will at long last win your love.
