The Heart's Distance
Yoshitaka Ichinomiya, or as everyone at the Imperial Academy called him, "Maora", walked down the pavement as dusk fell. The wind blew softly, scattering leaves on the ground. The air was rather lonely and solemn. Shortly after Haine Otomiya, adopted daughter of the Otomiya family, began attending the academy, so much had happened. Things didn't feel the same as they once did.
Haine-chan... The words Haine said to Maora echoed in his head.
"Fooling yourself with a lie... I can't stand it!"
A lie. That's all I've been living. Maora looked at the ground as he walked, as if hanging his head in shame.
Maguri. You remember, don't you? Back then, when we were young? We agreed that we would marry each other when we got older, but our parents said it's impossible for two boys to marry. So I came to this academy, posing as a girl, just so I could see you again. But things didn't go how I expected...you fell in love with the Emperor, Shizumasa-sama, and...strangely enough, when I revealed that I was a boy, I grew very close to Haine...closer than I expected.
Standing still for a moment, Maora looked at the evening sky. Yes...Haine-chan...she was surprised at first. A lot of people at the academy were. But even then, she still accepted me. In fact...I fell for her. I did something very foolish...and that is when she woke me up to the reality....that all I was doing was a lie. Besides, I knew her heart belonged to Shizumasa...I could never have her.
Looking back down and continuing to walk, Maora thought, But now, I'm afraid. Even though things are supposedly back to normal, I just take everything with a smile. But truthfully, I am hurting deep inside.
I'm afraid to face you again...Maguri.
Maora continued walking, and along the way, he saw Maguri standing there. Maora looked away as he walked.
"Mao...ra!" Maguri suddenly blurt out, blushing. Maora ignored him and kept walking, not saying a word.
"Hey, wait up!" Maguri began to run. Maora started running away.
"Wait, Maora! Listen for a sec will you?" Maora only ran faster. At that moment, Maguri grabbed Maora by the hand. "Yoshitaka!!"
Surprised, Maora turned around. Tears began to gather in his eyes.
Maguri...It's been so long since you called me by that name...
Maguri drew closer to Maora, seeing that Maora was about to cry.
"Do you...hate the part of me that is weak?" Maguri asked, panting from tiredness.
Maguri...
"Yes...I hate it," Maora replied, starting to choke up.
I don't want us to lie to each other, Maguri...to become so distant like this...
"Then I'll become strong." Maguri took off the bandages on his forehead, looking at Maora and smiling. "I'll become strong enough to protect you."
At that moment, tears began to flow from Maora's eyes. An unbelievable sense of happiness swept over him. He covered his mouth and sobbed.
Maguri...
"I realize I was wrong...to have fallen for someone else when you are what matters the most to me, Maora," Maguri said, embracing Maora tightly.
"I was wrong, too!" Maora exclaimed, weeping. "I know what I did was so...foolish...I was fooling myself..."
"You've done nothing wrong, Maora," Maguri replied. "And I will always remember our promise."
Maora looked up at Maguri.
"I love you, Maora."
"I love you too...Maguri..." Maora sobbed. At that moment, Maguri kissed Maora. Tears of joy streamed down Maora's cheeks as he enjoyed the kiss from the person who mattered the most of him, and who reciprocated those feelings.
Thank you, Haine, for showing me what truly mattered....
Thank you, Maguri...for being there for me, for accepting me, for loving me...From now on, everything that comes our way, we will face it...together. Always.

you were too tired

you can tell yourself it's because
I'm too needy
too jealous
too much

I didn't think I'd finish this in time for Coming Out Day...but I did! I like yuri more but eh... thought I'd do a change
This is Maguri x Maora from The Gentlemen's Alliance Cross by Arina Tanemura. And yes, this is my first yaoi/shonen-ai/BL fic! Their relationship is so heartwarming and cute, and even some people who aren't really into boys' love, like this pairing simply because of how their relationship is. For this one I sort of extended the MaguMao confession scene...I hope you all enjoy! And I'll likely do something for Spirit Day too.
